The ENVIRONMENTAL reasons for recycling:

Saving Natural Resources - Saving trees and other natural resources is of vital importance. Recycling reduces and in some cases removes the demand for native and exotic timbers...in our own country and throughout the world.

Saving Landfill Space - Landfills are under pressure from increases in waste and while some are of the opinion we have plenty of land to spare, the environmental requirements of these sites means that in fact there are limited places to put them. Everybody has a responsibility to reduce waste.

The ECONOMIC reasons for recycling:

Saves $$$ in waste disposal costs through reducing volume on the waste stream
Recycling services are designed to be very competitive when compared to the alternatives.
Creates Employment.
You can earn additional $$$ by recycling aluminum cans, etc.

Every ton of paper recycled saves up to 17 trees
(depending on their size) not to mention the savings in the air and water pollution.
